Safe Ocean Service also offers rope access services, which is a versatile and cost-efficient solution and an excellent substitution to scaffolding in some areas. Especially, areas that normally are inaccessible can be made quite accessible with rope access as it allows our engineers and equipment to maneuver in these areas.
Rope Access is a safe and reliable way to carry out jobs that would normally require scaffolding or a visit to a rig service quay.
All of our engineers are regularly on training courses to maintain and better the rope access skills and level. Furthermore, the all work in accordance with IRATA, SPRAT, and SOFT guidelines, which have ensured an impeccable track record.

Work Platform Netting
Another access solution offered by Safe Ocean Service is Work Platform Netting (WPN), which is as an alternative to Rope Access. It is often considered more accessible as rope access personnel, requires extensive training, a certain fitness level, and a positive attitude towards working at heights.
WPN is quick and easy to install as it is an industrial strength net, which is suspended and tensioned between wire ropes, which are rigged to anchor points in order to provide a secure and stable work platform. This makes WPN suitable for many different types of jobs – especially, jobs in locations where time, space, transportation, and weight are crucial factors to consider. WPN is to be installed by rope access but when mounted it can be accessed and used by all authorized personnel – the only thing required to work from a WPN is a simple 4-hour training course, which is valid for 2 years.
Choosing WPN comes with several advantages:
- WPN systems have a low weight, only 5-10 % of scaffolds, and are therefore less difficult to handle and consequently only a small team of 6-8 people are needed to install the system.
- WPN systems are fast and easy to install, disassemble, mobilize, and reinstall.
- WPN systems are a safer option than scaffolding as the danger of dropped objects is reduced during installation and the wind loading is low – even during high wind speeds. Furthermore, if an incident should occur – rescue is simple and quick as a rescue method is specified as part of the system design.
- WPN systems only have few contact points with the structure, which enable a more uniform paint finish.
As a final form of access solutions, Safe Ocean Service also offers the use of suspended platforms, which is an alternative form of access solutions that provides a very stable and flexible work platform in areas, which can be hard to access via traditional access solutions. It supports all kinds of heavy equipment and material and is often used in combination with WPN or Scaffolds.
